LASG TRAINS MWAPA PERSONNEL ON CYBERSPACE MANAGEMENT
The Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy (MOIS) has trained selected Personnel in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (MWAPA) to become advocates of adequate information management on policies and socio-economic development using their individual social media handles for the information dissemination process.
Speaking during a training session tagged: “Enlightenment and Sensitization Programme”, organised by the Social Media Unit, Ministry of Information and Strategy, held at MWAPA Conference Room on Friday, Dr. Jide Atansuyi, Director of Social Media, MOIS, stated that the programme was designed at ensuring that MWAPA personnel leverage on the State Government’s social media handles for information dissemination to the public.
He averred that the training will further broaden the horizon of participants and provide them with cutting-edge information on the current trends on social media.
Also speaking the Deputy Director, Social Media, MOIS, Mr. Obafemi Ajayi, who facilitated the training, explained that traditional media encompasses outdated methods in advertising and marketing that have been used for a long time to reach potential customers which have metamorphosed into current use of social media handles.
He said, “The age of traditional media is not very effective for TV communication and quick dissemination of information in the 21st century. However, Digital media provides more accurate data than traditional media. Hence, the need for the participants to embrace the use of social media platforms for a wider reach and improved publicity of government activities.”
He reiterated that Social Media is an interactive, conversational and participatory platform that allows feedback from the public. As such, there is a need for MWAPA personnel to use their social media handles to counter false information about government policies, programmes and activities.
While urging participants to be open-minded and be advocates of change and promoters of the present administration’s programmes and activities, he implored them to actively follow all the State Government social media handles, especially @followlasg on the Facebook page, @followlasg on X, lasg page on youtube and @lagosstategovt on Instagram.
The Director of Non-Governmental Organisation Unit, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Itunu Babarinde promised a working synergy on behalf of MWAPA staff to ensure that the Lagos State Government’s numerous and laudable achievements receive the deserved publicity among residents of the State.
