OMOTOSO ASSUMES DUTIES AS LAGOS INFORMATION COMMISSIONER

Following the swearing-in, today, of the thirty-five Commissioners and Special Advisers to the Lagos State Executive Council by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the newly appointed State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso has immediately assumed duties.

Addressing the Management Staff of the Ministry after the ceremony, the veteran journalist revealed his commitment to ensuring the State Government’s programmes, plans and policies are well accentuated to improve the system of governance in the State, adding that proper information management is key to the present administration’s success.

Omotoso, a seasoned media strategist and social critic with over thirty-five-year experience, spoke further that galvanising information processing and dissemination is essential to effective communication.

The new Commissioner, however, solicited for the cooperation, support and utmost dedication of Staff of the Ministry, stressing that they must be highly committed and carry out their statutory duties in order to effectively manage the image of the State.

“I enjoin all members of Staff to be selflessly committed to their statutory duties as this is the only way we can repay the confidence that the Governor and the good people of the State have reposed in us”, he urged.

As a pioneer Editor of “The Guardian on Sunday”, the Commissioner began his journalism career as Sub-Editor with “The Guardian” where he rose to become an Editor of repute in the same media outfit.

The versatile information manager is a recipient of several awards including the DAME Informed Commentary, Nigeria Media Merit Award Editor of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Until his appointment, Omotoso was the Editor of “The Nation” Newspaper.
