Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, a multiple award winning journalist, columnist, media strategist, social critic, Member of Nigeria Guild of Editors [NGE] and Member of Nigeria Union of Journalists [NUJ] was born on November, 11, 1961.
He attended the University of Benin, Nigeria where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts Degree [B.A] in English and Literature in year 1984 and followed it with a Master of Public and International Affairs [MPIA] at the University of Lagos, Akoka, which he successfully completed in 2007.
His professional competencies include: Information Management, Policy Formulation and Human/Reputation Management amongst others.
His nearly 35 years experience in the media began as a Trainee sub-Editor at “The Guardian”, where he rose to become Deputy Chief Editor, Editor of “Guardian Express” and Editor of “The Guardian on Saturday”. He was the pioneer Editor of “The Comet” in 1999 until it was rested in year 2006 when he joined “The Nation” as Editor. The publication has since grown into Nigeria’s widest circulating newspaper being published in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
He also runs the popular and award-winning Thursday column, “Editorial Notebook”, which is very popular for its topicality and style, presenting serious issues in a humorous manner.
Among the awards received in course of his career include the DAME Informed Commentary , Nigeria Media Merit Award Editor of the Year [2013, Nigeria Media Merit Award Editor of the Year  and Nigeria Media Merit Award Editor of the Year .
Mr Gbenga Omotoso, is from Osun State and he loves reading, sporting and playing music.
